Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent from a recognized university in India or Abroad. 
Graduates of any discipline, except Fine Arts, are eligible.


There is no age limit for pursuing PGDM (SM). However, applicants less than 28 years of age as on August 01, 2018 would be preferred.

Appearance in Competitive Examinations

The applicants shall have appeared for any of the competitive examinations viz, CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT or any other recognized competitive examinations (e.g. MH-CET or state level entrance examination, if any conducted by the respective State Government ).

The decision of the Selection Committee of NISM on cut-off scores for selection will be final in this regard.

Selection Procedure

Stage I – Online Application

Admission closed for PGDM(SM) 2018-20. 

Scrutiny and Short-list

Admissions to PGDM-SM will be made only from the candidates qualified from anyone of the six All India tests i.e.; CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT or state level entrance examination, if any conducted by the respective State Government.

The candidates shall be short listed on the basis of the overall rank computed taking into account of the following components and their weights:

  • Score in the Common Admission test (CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT) -35 to 60%
  • Score for academic performance in X Std., XII Std., - 5 to 25%
  • Under Graduate Degree/Post Graduate Degree - 5 to 25%
  • Group discussion/interview - 20 to 45%
  • Weightage for participation in Sports, Extra-curricular activities, Academic diversity and Gender diversity – 5 to 20%

Stage II – Essay Writing and Personal Interview

The essay writing will be administered to short-listed applicants on the day of the personal interview. The one-page essay shall be on a contemporary topic to be disclosed, administered and completed in 10 minutes prior to the conduct of the interview. The essay topic shall be from any event covered in any Indian financial daily in the past one year, to assess clarity of expression through written communication skills.

The personal interview will be based on Achievement Orientation, Clarity on Career Objectives, Communication, Team Spirit.
