Workshop on Quantitative Risk Management – Issues and Challenges
NISM has conducted a Workshop on Quantitative Risk Management – Issues and Challenges during February 20-21, 2016 at NISM Bhavan, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM. He has discussed in detail about the importance and necessity of training and need for conducting Master classes.
The Master Trainers of the programme were –
1. Dr. Michel Dacorogna (Doctorate in Theoretical Physics, Université de Genève, & HDR) - He is Scientific Advisor to the Chairman of SCOR.He conducts research in the field of Insurance Mathematics, Capital Management and Risks. Author and co-author of more than 70 publications in refereed scientific journals, he is often invited to present his results in InternationalConferences and specialized seminars.
2. Prof. Marie Kratz (Doctorate in Applied Mathematics, University Pierre et Marie Curie Paris 6, & HDR) - She is a member of faculty at ESSEC Business School. Her research fields are Applied Probability, Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Mathematics, with a focus on Extreme Value Theory, Risk Analysis and Gaussian processes. She has published many papers on these topics in international journals. She is the director of CREAR – Center of Research in Econo-finance and Actuarial - collaboration of the industry and international academics partners.
The key objective of the masterclass was to engage participants with internationally acclaimed and renowned experts in the field. The programme inter-alia, tried to enable participants to acquire knowledge of new tools to deal with impact of extreme risks through real-life examples, help them learn models that are relevant for the emerging markets and understand how to efficiently allocate capital to individual risks. The participants also had the hands on experience on working of various models of risk management.
The participants for the programme were from different institutions like SEBI,RBI, Edelweiss Finance & Investments Limited, General Seal Company, Citicorp Services India Ltd and Universal Sompo GIC Ltd.
Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Member of Faculty, NISM was the in-charge of the programme. He has apprised to the participant about the role and function of NISM. He also explained how NISM endeavours to provide world-class training, seminars and conferences for the officials of Regulators, Banks, Exchanges, other financial institutions, market participants and other interested in the field.
The participants were given Certificate of Participation at the end of the programme.
