National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a Public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India.

NISM’s mission is to engage in capacity building among the stakeholders in the securities markets through, professional education, financial literacy, enhancing governance standards and fostering policy research.

The Institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards of and increase the participation in the securities markets.

The Institute conducts one-year full-time Post Graduate programmes in Securities Markets (PGPSM), Post Graduate Diploma in Quantitative Finance (PGDQF), part-time Post Graduate programmes in Financial Engineering and Risk Management (PGFERM), Certification in Data Science (PGCDS), Certificate in Treasury Management (CTM) and Certificate in Securities Law (CSL). Further, the Institute also conducts several short-term programmes, workshops, seminars and certification courses for various market participants in the securities markets. Currently, NISM is functioning from Vashi, Navi Mumbai. A state-of-the-art campus on a 70-acre plot of land at Patalganga (around 45 minutes drive from Vashi, Navi Mumbai) is under construction and is nearing completion. Minimum 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/s of comparable standards

Substantial relevant publications in high quality refereed journals

Candidates applying for a faculty position should have a demonstrated ability to make their intellectual contribution accessible to experienced managers through teaching, training and published work. Candidates should have a strong understanding of current developments in the related field. Faculty members are responsible for carrying out research, designing and teaching courses, conducting continuing education programmes and web-based education, institution development, and consultancy.

Teaching: The following are the functional teaching areas for candidates seeking faculty position

Corporate Finance, Securities Analysis, Financial Management, Derivatives, Algorithmic Trading and Quantitative Strategies, Fixed Income Securities, Portfolio Management, Mutual Funds, Behavioral Finance, Operations including Quantitative methods (Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research), Project Management, Strategic Management including M&A, Joint Ventures & Alliances, Operations Strategy, Corporate Governance, Commerce and Economics, Financial Engineering, Risk Management, Econometrics, Data Sciences, Analytics, Computer Science, etc.

Research: Faculty is expected to contribute towards Project Research Studies or academic papers, publications, content writing etc.

Administration: Design and delivery of Trading on Simulated Software (TOSS) programs in PG, conduct of other training programs / workshops / seminars, conduct of examinations including evaluation / assessment, grading, consultancy etc.

Expectation from selected candidates:

Selected candidates are expected to teach across various programmes, particularly in the PGPSM/PGPERM/PGDQF/PGCDS etc. and engage in high quality research to be published in leading academic journals. In addition, they are expected to contribute to academic administration as per the norms set by the institute from time to time.

Selection process:

  1. Applications would be processed by a Short-listing Committee to check for eligibility as per the Institute norms.
  2. Shortlisted applications would be invited for an interaction with the Recommending / Selection Panel.
  3. A presentation is expected from the shortlisted candidate during the interaction on a topic of interest / research work done.
  4. Based on the interaction, Recommending / Selection Panel will decide whether the candidate can be considered / recommended for a faculty position at NISM.
  5. The Ph.D. thesis / documents supporting qualifications must be submitted on or before the interaction/interview.
  6. Mere fulfillment of the qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview / interaction.
  7. All qualifications must be from UGC recognized University / Deemed University or AICTE approved autonomous institutions (wherever applicable) or equivalent. The courses offered by autonomous institutions should be equivalent to the relevant courses approved / recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  8. A candidate, otherwise suitable, but having a limited shortfall in experience may be considered for lower position and / or shorter contract periods, any relaxation in the eligibility conditions will be at the sole discretion of the management.
  9. Compensation and designation will be decided based on academic accomplishments and experience of the candidate.

Remuneration: As per industry standards.

Duration: Selected candidate shall be offered contractual appointment of one-year to five-year period. Further extension will be subject to maintaining high standards of performance to the satisfaction of the management.
