CSMPNISM has launched a long term full time course Certified Securities Markets Professional (CSMP). The CSMP 2010-2011 commences on June 22, 2010 and is expected to conclude on June 4, 2011. This is an intensive inclass programme seeking to prepare specialist to enter the securities industry. NISM intends to take the programme to the colleges and universities in order to help them launch Masters programmes, such as MBA (Capital Markets), with securities market specialization with a view to creating a cadre of specialists who are fully equipped to join as professionals in the Indian securities industry.

NISM participated in Educational Tours at Delhi and Bangalore to interact with the prospective students of CSMP. NISM received an enthusiastic response to the call for applications for admission to the CSMP programme. Over 300 candidates registered for the test. On April 25, 2010, the computer-based examination was conducted in 27 centers all over India. Of the 322 candidates who registered for the test, 277 took the test. The test went off smoothly, without glitches and candidates were able to complete the test, in their chosen time slots. Candidates expressed their satisfaction on the manner in which the test was conducted.

Based on the performance of the candidates in the test as well as a scrutiny of application forms, 179 candidates were short-listed for the interviews. Interviews were conducted in six cities, viz., Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.

Admission notifications were sent to 74 candidates. CSMP Batch 2010-11 has commenced on June 22, 2010 at NISM, Vashi. The programme is divided into four terms covering 600 hours of teaching. During the first two terms and in the fourth term students are expected to study a total of 24 papers consisting of 19 full credit papers and 5 half credit papers. In the third term students are required to undertake an internship project with an organization in the securities industry. The courses include Economics for Securities Markets, Quantitative Methods, Corporate Finance, Investment & Portfolio Management, Financial Institutions & Markets, Venture Capital & Private Equity, Behavioural Finance, etc.
