Training Of Trainers Programme For Corporate Governance

NISM in collaboration with Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta has organized a Training of Trainers Program (TOT) on Corporate Governance at Fortune Select Exotica in Vashi (Navi Mumbai) from 22nd to 25th July 2010.

This three-day interactive workshop trained the trainers of directors in adult learning skills and techniques, in the familiarization and use of the GCGF’s Resources Kit and in global developments in corporate governance. A total of eighteen participants attended the sessions out of which sixteen were from India and two from Mauritius.Alumini_Meet_2

The faculty for the programme consisted of Mr. Eugene Spiro, Senior Projects Officer, Global Corporate Governance Forum, Dr. Mary Jo Larson PhD., an experienced trainer and co-author of the Kit and expert in adult education, Prof. Chris Pierce, Chief Executive and Founder of Global Governance Services Ltd., an UK based firm providing a variety of governance related services to a wide range of clients worldwide and Mr. Pratip Kar, former Executive Director Securities and Exchange Board of India and Member Advisory Council, Forum.

Alumini Meet of TOT Participants

NISM had organized a similar programme (TOT) during January 21-24, 2010, at The Retreat, Madh Island. The workshop familiarized the Resource Person with “Directors’ toolkit”, developed by the Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF) of IFC, with sponsorship from the Government of Japan and effective pedagogies for adult learning.

An alumni reunion for the participants of this TOT was held on July 22, 2010 at Hotel Fortune Select Exotica, Vashi. 14 alumni attended the reunion, as well as speakers and facilitators from GCGF. Mr. Eugene Spiro - (Senior Projects Officer-GCGF) and Mr. Pratip Kar - (Consultant, GCGF) lead the programme.

The alumni shared their experiences of six months since they attended the TOT, how they have been benefited from the toolkit, through its practical implementation in their respective professions as well as through the workshops conducted by them for Directors and suggestions for further evolving the toolkit, to make it even more adaptable to the practical business scenario.


Training Of Trainers Programme For Corporate Governance

ToTNISM in collaboration with the Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) has organized a four days "Training of Trainers Programme for Corporate Governance". The event was held at The Retreat, Madh Island, Mumbai from 21st to 24th of January 2010.

The TOT Program was designed with an objective to build capacity of existing corporate governance trainers to further enhance their knowledge, understanding and teaching techniques so that the participants would develop the knowledge base and skill sets needed to lead director education programs that reflect international best practices adapted to regional and in-country needs. Nominations for participants have been invited from the academia and other groups and twenty selected participants from these nominations were invited to participate in the programme.

Mr.Eugene Spiro, Senior Projects Officer at GCGF, Mr.Pratip Kar, Member Advisory Council of GCGF, Dr.Mary Jo Larson, Faculty member at Columbia University, Ms.Anne Molyneux, Director of CS International and Prof.G.Sethu, In-charge of NISM have conducted the training sessions. The training programme focused on developing adult learning skills and techniques, in the familiarization and use of the GCGF’s Resources Kit and in global developments in corporate governance with a balanced pedagogical mix of lectures, case studies and simulation exercises.
