The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-regulation (1) of Regulation (9) of SEBI (Certification of Associated Persons in Securities Markets) Regulations, 2007, NISM specifies that where the associated person has obtained the required certificate either by having passed the AMFI Mutual Fund (Advisors) Module(till 31.05.2010)offered by Association of Mutual Funds in India or the NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund DistributorsCertification Examination (from 01.06.2010)and the validity period of the said certificate is over, such person shall be required to undergo Programme of ‘Continuing Professional Education’, for Mutual Fund Distributors.
