Registrar & Transfer Agents

Registrar and Transfer Agents (RTAs) play a crucial role in the Indian securities market by acting as intermediaries between issuers and investors. They are responsible for maintaining records of investor transactions in mutual funds and listed securities, including the processing of applications, redemption of units, transfer of ownership, updating investor information, and issuing account statements. RTAs ensure smooth operational efficiency and transparency in servicing investors. In India, RTAs cater to the mutual fund industry, the equity and debt securities segment. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), RTAs are governed by the SEBI (Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents) Regulations, 1993. They also play a vital role in dividend distribution, corporate action processing, and investor grievance redressal. By centralizing record-keeping and streamlining back-end operations, RTAs help asset management companies and listed entities maintain regulatory compliance and deliver efficient investor services, thus strengthening trust and transparency in the financial ecosystem.
