In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-regulation (3) of Regulation 7 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Certification of Associated Persons in Securities Markets) Regulations 2007, National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Board of India, had specified the following certification examinations as the requisite standard for specified market segments:

(1) NISM-Series-I: Currency Derivatives Certification Examination as the requisite standard for the approved users and sales personnel of trading members of currency derivatives segments of recognized stock exchanges

(2) NISM-Series-IV: Interest Rate Derivatives Certification Examination as the requisite standard for the approved users and sales personnel of trading members who are registered as such in the currency derivatives segment of a recognized stock exchange and trading in interest rate derivatives

(3) NISM-Series-VIII: Equity Derivatives Certification Examination as the requisite standard for associated persons functioning as approved users and sales personnel of the trading member of an equity derivatives exchange or equity derivative segment of a recognized stock exchange

NISM now launches the NISM-Series-XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination encompassing the requisite standards of the above mentioned three derivatives examinations providing an “additional choice” to the candidates. Candidates who have passed the NISM-Series-XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination shall be deemed to have obtained the requisite standards as specified in the three Communiqués / Press Releases mentioned above.

The NISM-Series-XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination will be available from December 24, 2014.

Details of NISM-Series-XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination are given in Annexure-I and Annexure-II attached to this communiqué/press release.
