The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM conducted a one day program on Securities Market and related offences, on 15th December, 2014 in a 12 day long program on “Investigation of Economic Offences” at Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik.

The program was for the Police Inspectors of Economic Offences Wing – Maharashtra Police Department. 30 Police Inspectors from across the state attended the program.

Program contained sessions on

  1. Overview of securities market,
  2. Intermediaries in the market,
  3. Primary and secondary market,
  4. Various kinds of offences in securities markets, fraudulent and unfair trade practices, vanishing companies, unauthorised trading etc.
  5. Legal framework for securities market, various Acts and Regulations
