The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Under Leadership Lecture Series13, Mr. C J George, Managing Director and CEO, Geojit Financial Services Limited addressed the students and faculty members of NISM on Friday September 30, 2022. The topic was “The evolution of Investors, Market Intermediaries and Exchanges through my eyes”.

Mr. C J George, during his address, shared his diverse experience. Starting his career as an analyst and as a broker, how his journey progressed in converting Geojit as a major financial services entity. Mr. George took the audience through the transition of Indian Capital Markets from being plagued by high brokerage, role of Jobbers, physical delivery and other inefficient processes to being a cost-effective and efficient market as of now. He highlighted how technology has helped address question of “how” to trade while the “when” and “where” questions have re-emerged, particularly for small investors. He highlighted the importance of building trust through honesty, integrity and credibility.  He also spoke on contemporary critical issues like insider trading, overvaluation of public issues etc.

A trip through the trading pit of the 1980s to the contemporary techno-driven Indian securities markets was highly captivating to the students and the faculty members alike.  Mr. George gave masterly responses to a range of mostly practical questions raised by them.
