The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Held on 20 March, 2015 at Hyatt Regency, Mumbai the second “International Research Conference” was a very successful event. The one day Conference focused on Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) brought together the international experts from academia, corporate, market practitioners, policy makers among others having experience in the field from countries including Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

Shri Prashant Saran, Whole Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) inaugurated the programme. In a crisp keynote address SEBI Chairman Shri U.K. Sinha has mentioned that the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) will eventually make it big in India.

During Sebi’s second ‘International Research Conference’, the participants discuss issues related to structure, performance and impact, taxation, valuation of REITs and managing the REITs.

Shri S.Raman, Whole Time Member, SEBI delivered the final remarks, drawing the workshop to a conclusion. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the corporate sector making it a grand success.
