NISM is engaged in developing excellence in regulatory practices among regulators and market participants, both domestic and abroad. It conducts capacity building and advanced training programs for securities market participants, including regulators, focusing on policy creation, implementation and compliance. The programs allow securities professionals to stay abreast of the latest market legal framework, products, processes and technologies. The Institute’s horizons extend beyond India; it catalyzes the development of securities markets in developing countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and other IOSCO members through its high-level training collaborations. The institution is uniquely positioned to provide specialized programmes and create the new age securities markets professional.

The institution also provides capacity building support for the initiative of SEBI in promoting financial and investor education.  For this, individuals and organisations are being identified and trained as per the criteria laid out by SEBI. After training, these individuals/organisations impart investor education to the length and breadth of the country under the supervision of SEBI.

Money touches all aspects of our lives; without financial literacy, our financial decisions and actions lack a robust foundation for success. From saving for a comic book to planning for retirement, effective money management is vital for financial well-being. NISM endeavours to cultivate the basic financial skills in individuals from all walks of life, ranging from students to young investors, working professionals and retired personnel.

NISM conducts Investor Education programs for different Government Institutions/ Law enforcement agencies / Private and Public organizations and colleges across the country. These programs are demand-based wherein NISM sends its resource persons to take sessions on themes of investor education and investor protection.

NISM also conducts Financial Literacy programs for college students in partnership with Financial Intermediaries under CSR. These programs are delivered through trained resource persons empanelled with NISM. The objective of these programs is to inculcate the habit of savings and investment among youth and also to prepare them for career opportunities in the field of Financial Services.

In addition to imparting financial literacy, the institution also focuses on enhancing Corporate Governance standards across the industrial spectrum. It conducts training and capacity building programs on all relevant topics related to corporate governance and management of companies. These are aimed at regulators, compliance professionals, Key Managerial Personnel, Directors on the Boards of listed companies and government officers. The programs are in different formats: classroom lectures, workshops, role-playing and interaction with experts.
