The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) in association with Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)organized a half day Workshop on‘Initiative to Promote Gender Balance in Business Leadership’ at BSE Ltd.,Mumbai on January 15, 2015.

Shri Prashant Saran, Whole Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) inaugurated the programme. The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Meena Hemchandra, Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India. Shri Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, BSE, CS R Sridharan, President, ICSI, Shri Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM and Shri Sutanu Sinha, CEO and Officiating Secretary to ICSI also spoke on the occasion.

The workshop deliberated on two themes – ‘Listening from the Leaders’ and ‘Unlocking the Power of Gender Diversity on the Board’.

The Session on ‘Listening from the Leaders’ was moderated by Ms. Usha Narayanan, Former Executive Director, SEBI, Senior Consultant with Amarchand Mangaldas, Advocates & Solicitors and main speakers were Dr. Uma Shashikant, MD, CIEL, Dr. Archana Hingorani, CEO & Executive Director, IL&FS Investment Managers Ltd. and Ms. Savitri Parekh, Head Legal, Pidilite Industries.

The Session on ‘Unlocking the Power of Gender Diversity on the Board’ was moderated by Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi, Executive Director, RBI and main speakers were Shri Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM and Ms. Neelam Bhardwaj, Former General Manager, SEBI, Independent Capital Market Consultant.

Shri Sandip Ghose delivered the closing remarks.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the corporate sector making it a grand success.
