Programme on ‘Understanding Securities Laws’ for Probationary Officers of ICLS, NISM Campus, Patalganga | July 26 – August 6, 2021
The School for Regulatory Studies and Supervision (SRSS) of National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) conducted Programme on ‘Understanding Securities Laws’ for Probationary Officers of ICLS during July 26 – August 6, 2021 at NISM Campus, Patalganga.
Mr. M Krishnamoorthy, Programme Director and Member of Faculty, NISM welcomed the dignitaries, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Joint Director, ICLS; Mr.Raghunath Pola, Joint Director,ICLS Mr. Sunil J Kadam, Registrar, NISM; Dr. V. R. Narasimhan, Dean, NISM and Mr.Jayant Arya, Deputy Director, ICLS.Mr. Sanjay Kumar Gupta who joined the inaugural session through online expressed deep satisfaction for all the programmes NISM has organised for the ICLS officers, He urged the participants who are newly inducted to ICLS fraternity to take maximum benefit of the Program. Mr.Raghunath Pola, while addressing the session, complimented the efforts taken by NISM for designing the structure of the session, which is not only contemporary but also having high practical orientation.
Mr.Sunil J.Kadam during his brief talk welcomed all the participants and spoke on how the programme will be relevant while they take up the assignments. Dr.V R Narasimhan during his address requested all the participants to have maximum interactions during the programme. Citing various examples from his rich professional life, he made a brief presentation on how various securities laws have evolved and changed over a period of time.
Mr.Jayanat Arya during his address spoke about the relevance of such training program and how it can help the beginners. He appealed all the participants to take utmost benefit of the program.
Eminent faculty members having practical exposure to the topics addressed the young ICLS officers during the 10 Day training programme. Most of the sessions were conducted in the classroom while few other sessions were through video conferencing. Some of the topics covered in the training programme include Overview of Indian Securities Markets – Primary and Secondary Market, Mutual Fund Structure, Fixed Income Securities, Alternative Investment Fund, LODR Regulations, Basics of Derivatives, Market Infrastructure Institutions and Risk Management, Depositories Act & Depository System in India, SEBI (PIT) Regulations, 2015 with case laws, Overview of Commodity Derivative Markets in India, Surveillance at SEBI, Corporate Governance, Emotional Intelligence and Decision Making, NPS, Financial Planning etc.
Apart from the classroom sessions, the trading in simulation/finance lab was also conducted where the participants were taught to analyse the patterns in various ways as well as derivatives trading and its technical analysis.
Mr. Sunil J Kadam, Registrar, NISM addressed the participants in the valedictory session and advised them to take the right decisions in their upcoming professional career. He emphasised the role of Governance in profession and appealed all the participants to upkeep the good governance and ethical practices.
Participants, during the valedictory session expressed immense satisfaction about the Programme, opined that they had excellent takeaways and will help in their career.
In conclusion, Mr.Sunil J Kadam, Registrar handed over the Certificates of participation to all candidates.
