Welcome to NISM

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM sprawling 72-acre campus with a serene environment and state-of-the-art infrastructure at Patalganga (near Mumbai-Pune Expressway) was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, incumbent Prime Minister of India, on 24 December 2016.

This picturesque campus offers full-time residential long-term programmes for postgraduate students, short-term training programmes and faculty development programmes for market participants.

NISM has embarked on a fast track expansion of its activities, both domestically and internationally, which will position the institute as a leading global player in knowledge dissemination and skills enhancement in the financial markets domain.

The campus boasts of state-of-the-art design, finance library, IT infrastructure, well-equipped classrooms, seminar hall, conference hall, etc. It also has an amphitheater, ultra-modern auditorium and multipurpose hall, recreation facilities for various activities. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

NISM has been carrying out a wide range of capacity building activities aimed at enhancing quality standards in the securities markets and for increasing participation therein, addressing various stakeholders of securities markets, keeping in view its purpose, as mentioned below:

“To develop NISM as a premier Institution recognized globally, for capacity building in the securities market ecosystem with the objective of enhancing quality, compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of participants in the market. This would be achieved through skill development, professional training and certification.”

NISM articulates and implements its aforesaid purpose through its three verticals as detailed below:

The Centre for Content Creation oversees the creation, updation and delivery of study material content for all of NISM’s Certification examinations, CPEs (Continuing professional education), eCPE and Question Bank development creation and development. Further CCC also oversees all the digital content creation for NISM’s eLearning programmes and skill development modules. The team also looks at other allied activities related to content like monitoring and reporting regulatory updates impacting the various certification exams, publishing the NISM newsletter, translation activity for various types of content and other special content projects as mandated from time to time.

Centre for Capacity Building was conceptualized with a vision to build capacity in the areas related to securities market by offering various courses aimed at students as well as market participants. These courses are offered with intelligent use of technology and innovative approach to pedagogy including through NISM’s well-equipped simulation lab.

i. Centre for Capacity Building -1
Design and offer various skill-based long-term and short-term programs to the market participants and student community for capacity building in securities markets. Comprehensive Investment Management Courses are conducted with the primary focus on ‘learning’ for market professionals and for investors. The centre provides exclusive hands-on sessions at the Algo Trading and Analytics lab, to train the participants with trading operations and strategies related to Equity and Equity derivatives, and technical analysis. Conferences are also conducted to promote securities markets research amongst the market participants.

ii. Centre for Capacity Building -2
Exam Administration, CPE and e-CPE Administration, Helpdesk Support to Exam-CPE-eCPE Candidates and Grievance Redressal Process, Inspections, Audit and Fraud Control of Exam-CPE-eCPE, Data, Analysis & Reports pertaining to NISM’s Certification (Exam-CPE-eCPE).

iii. Centre for Capacity Building -3

Center for Capacity Building 3 (CCB-3) at NISM is focused on academic program management and holistic student development. It oversees the Academic Program Unit (APU), manages examinations through the Controller of Examinations (CoE), and facilitates placement assistance for long-term programs. CCB-3 organizes various student-oriented initiatives, supporting both academic excellence and career readiness.

iv. Centre for Capacity Building -4
Develop E-learning programs, on topics of contextual financial interest, Capacity building programs on behalf of SEBI which includes training of various Securities Markets Trainers, Education for investors to create awareness about the securities markets, etc.

v. Centre for Capacity Building -5
Training and creating awareness of the securities markets through Management Development Programs (MDPs) for Regulators (including SEBI and RBI), Government Officials and other market participants (including Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) and Intermediaries), International participants, etc.

Partnerships Division:

The Partnership Division at NISM is committed to building strategic alliances with a broad range of stakeholders, including Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs), intermediaries, regulatory bodies, educational institutions, digital platforms, and CSR partners. These collaborations aim to drive joint initiatives in financial literacy, training, content development, and capacity building. Currently, the division is actively engaging with Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and market intermediaries to develop skilled, industry-ready professionals for the securities markets. Key functions include business development, identifying collaboration opportunities, and negotiating MoUs, MoAs and Letters of Understanding (LoUs) to ensure impactful and sustainable partnerships.

Marketing Division:
The Marketing Division at NISM is responsible for designing and executing strategic marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility, promote NISM’s offerings, and engage effectively with its target audiences. Its core functions include managing student admissions and placement support, leading digital and traditional marketing campaigns across platforms such as the website, social media, email newsletters, and print media. The division also oversees brand management, public relations, and the planning of industry events, conferences, and seminars to extend the impact of NISM’s certifications, training programs, and services. Additionally, it plays a key role in executing CSR initiatives in collaboration with CSR partners.

Organization Scope
Geojit Foundation To develop, implement, execute, conduct, coordinate, and carry out financial education activities, primarily focused on colleges in Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III cities of North Tamil Nadu, for the benefit of students pursuing their final year of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across all streams.
SBI-CAP Securities Limited To implement financial literacy aimed at empowering underprivileged youth with the knowledge and tools necessary to overcome economic barriers and achieve long term financial security. This initiative aims to build financial awareness and certification-linked employability among youth from underserved regions.

Administrative departments provide the support required for conducting the aforesaid activities and contribute towards professionalizing the securities markets.

AD-1 Human Resource, Legal and Compliance, Academic Compliance Cell (ACC)

Human Resources Division performs all the functions in its role as the principal personnel and human resources authority in NISM. Legal and Compliance Division is responsible for the statutory and other compliances applicable on NISM and to provide legal counsel and drafting and vetting of various statutory documents. Academic Compliance Cell (ACC) is responsible for setting and advancing long-term programs offered by the institute. Administrative activities involved in the entire journey of a student at NISM starting from admission to the award of certificate are facilitated by AC cell including the faculty feedback, collection of fee etc.

AD-2 Finance & Accounts

Maintaining internal accounting records, developing internal control systems for collections and disbursements and other financial controls – Managing NISM’s investments, Development of NISM’s internal budget and accounting systems etc.

AD-3 Infrastructure and Security

Development and maintenance of NISM’s office, Campus and residential premises. Overall Security operations including CCTV management, Student Discipline, Overseeing the protocol related arrangements, and Liaison & Coordination with Local Authorities.

AD-4 Information & Technology

Development, implementation and maintenance of IT Infrastructure, Cloud Services, Portals, Mail and messaging solution, Digital Application & Automation Trading, Simulation Software & LAB etc.

AD-5 General Services

This department would support the internal operations of NISM via Facilities Management (Housekeeping, General Management & Hostels Accommodations), transport, catering, and other Administrative Support Services.
