NISM-IFSCA-02B: Certification Course on Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience in the GIFT IFSC (Advanced)

Launch of NISM-IFSCA-02B: Certification Course on Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience in the GIFT IFSC (Advanced) w.e.f. December 30, 2026.

The examination seeks to establish a common knowledge benchmark for CISOs, Principal Officers, Designated Officers, Compliance Officers of Regulated Entities (REs), and other individuals as defined by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) through its relevant circulars. It aims to strengthen the cyber security and cyber resilience capabilities of key function holders by building upon their existing understanding of cyber security practices, strengthening risk management and governance approaches, and enhancing their understanding of regulatory requirements, expectations, and responsibilities applicable to entities operating in the GIFT IFSC.

Examination Objectives

On successful completion of the examination, the candidate should:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of cyber security, cyber resilience, and the evolving cyber threat landscape.

  • Analyse the role of governance frameworks, risk management practices, and security architecture in designing and maintaining effective cyber security and resilience

  • Apply cyber security principles and practices across key domains, including asset management, access management, third-party risk management, application security, data security, physical security, and vulnerability management.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of security awareness, cyber hygiene, and organisational security culture in identifying and mitigating cyber risks.

  • Assess cyber incident detection, response, recovery, and resilience practices, and determine appropriate measures to strengthen organisational preparedness and

  • Interpret and apply applicable cyber security regulatory requirements, guidelines, and expectations for entities operating in the GIFT IFSC.

  • Analyse emerging technologies and evolving cyber security challenges, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and related developments, and assess their potential security implications.

  • Gain an understanding of the practical application of cyber security and cyber resilience concepts through relevant case studies and scenarios.

Assessment Structure

The examination consists of 80 multiple-choice questions and 3 case-based questions (each case having 4 questions). The assessment structure is as follows:

[3 cases (2 cases with 4 questions of 2 marks each and 1 case with

4 questions of 1 mark each)]

The examination should be completed in 2 hours. The passing score for the examination is 60 percent. There shall be negative marking of 25 percent of the marks assigned to a question.
