The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The first talk under the ‘Leadership Lecture Series’ was held on Friday November 12,2021. Shri. T Rabi Sankar, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India graced the occasion and addressed the students and faculty members of NISM on the topic “FinTech and the transformation of the Finance sector”. Dr. CKG Nair, Director, NISM while delivering the opening remarks welcomed Shri. Rabi Sankar and briefly touched upon the overwhelming nature of FinTech and its dynamism, speed and scope.  Prof. Rachana Baid, HOD School of Securities Education, NISM formally introduced the Speaker.

Shri T. Rabi Sankar, during his address, elaborated on the evolution, nature and linkages of FinTech and its functioning. He further elaborated how Bank and FinTech partnership can be a win-win situation for both sides. He also highlighted the need for financial service providers to be more innovative, digital and customer-centric, while FinTech entities providing regulation-compliant services. Citing various contemporary examples from his rich experience, Shr. Rabi Sankar made the session very lively and enriching.
