The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM with BSE jointly organized three “Awareness Session” in Srinagar, J&K.  Shir G. P.  Garg (Head NCFE) was the Chief Guest at the session.
Shri G.P. Garg in his address emphasized the need to have a goal oriented approach towards investment. He also explained the importance of having proper knowledge of the investment avenues before investing. He gave an in-depth knowledge of the NISM objectives. He also emphasized the vitality of the certification courses offered by NISM for a carrier in Capital Market.

Shri Rajeev Garg, DGM BSE, along with Shri Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager Investor Protection Fund (IPF) also addressed the meet. Shri. Rajeev Garg, explained in details the functions of the exchange. He also explained the need to be aware of false and unregistered collective investment schemes. He informed that instead of directly jumping into derivative trade one can also explore investments into mutual funds and selectively blue chip companies listed on the India Stock Exchanges.
Shri Harbinder Singh Sokhi, while speaking on the occasion focused on the importance of analyzing company performance before investing in the share market. He also explained different investment methods and planning to prepare a secure investment portfolio. He further explained difference aspects of stock market activates including Do’s and a Don’ts for the investors and risk management.
The session was followed by a question and answer session. The lecture was well received and appreciated by one and all.
