The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Faculty Development Programme in Securities Markets

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) organized a Faculty Development Programme in Securities Markets in association with the Pondicherry University and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund. The programme was hosted at the Pondicherry University on 13th December 2019. About 120 faculty members and research scholars from colleges affiliated to the University participated in the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Sunil Kadam (Registrar – NISM) in the esteemed presence of Prof. Gurmeet Singh (Vice Chancellor – Pondicherry University), Shri Sahil Malik (General Manager – NISM), Prof. Chandrasekara Rao (Dean i/c, College Development Council, Pondicherry University), Prof. D. Lazar (Head – Department of Commerce, Pondicherry University) and Prof. P. Dhanavanthan (Dean – Ramanujam School of Mathematical Sciences, Pondicherry University).

The programme featured a rich line-up of technical sessions on financial markets. Shri Sunil Kadam provided a holistic understanding of financial markets. Shri Sahil Malik sensitized the participants on the importance of investments and exposed them to various investment avenues. Shri Thyagarajan Balasubramaiam (CEO – Stratadigm) represented Aditya Birla Sun Life and introduced basic concepts of Mutual Funds through an interactive game. Shri Gokulnath Raja (Deputy Manager, NISM) highlighted the various career opportunities in securities markets and the scope of NISM’s academic and certification programmes.

The programme received overwhelming feedback from the participants. The participants approached NISM to conduct awareness sessions on securities markets, mutual funds and career opportunities in the securities markets at their respective colleges.

Shri Sunil Kadam conferred the participants with Certificates of Participation. The programme concluded with valedictory remarks by Prof. Tirupati Rao (Pondicherry University).
