The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Empowering India’s Youth Through Financial Knowledge and Awareness

Mumbai, August 30-31, 2025 –The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), launched the National Financial Literacy Quiz (NFLQ) 2025. Around 2,50,000 students from all over India, participated in the online quiz and thereafter, the quiz is being held at various regions—Eastern, Southern, Northern, Central, Western and North East.

NFLQ 2025 is part of NISM’s broader advocacy efforts to strengthen financial literacy among young learners. The initiative is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students and is designed to spread awareness about financial markets, investor rights, and the role of market intermediaries. It seeks to empower students with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions as they step into the financial world.

The north-east regional round of NFLQ was held on August 30-31, 2025 at Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus, Guwahati. Participants from around 55 undergraduates and 35 post- graduate institutes across north-eastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Manipal, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura  participated. Earlier, central regional round was held on August 16-17, 2025 at Indore, the northern regional round was held at Gurugram on July 26- 27,2025, the southern regional round was held at Bengaluru on July 5-6, 2025 and the eastern regional round was held at Kolkata on June 21-22, 2025. The Regional Round was preceded by an online quiz round.

Further Regional Rounds are being conducted in another two cities.

  • 1st Prize – Rs. 40,000/- St. Anthony’s College – Shillong
  • 2nd Prize – Rs. 30,000/- Cotton University – Guwahati
  • 3rd Prize – Rs. 20,000/- Pachhunga University College – Aizawl

 

Postgraduate Category:

  • 1st Prize – Rs. 40,000/- Cotton University – Guwahati
  • 2nd Prize – Rs. 30,000/- Indian Institute of Management (IIM–Shillong) – Shillong
  • 3rd Prize – Rs. 20,000/- Tezpur University Department Masters of Science & Computer Applications – Tezpur

 

Additionally, the UG colleges from the North-East Zone qualified to advance to the National Rounds. The list of selected institutions is as follows:[1]

  • Darrang College – Tezpur
  • North-Eastern Hill University – Shillong
  • Jorhat Engineering College – Bamun Gaon

  • National Institute of Technology Meghalaya – Shillong
  • Assam Downtown University – Assam

 

 Additionally, the 10 PG colleges from the North-East zone qualified to advance to the National Rounds. The list of selected institutions is as follows:
