NISM Welcomes the Next Cohort of Legal Professionals LL.M.(Investment & Securities Law) 2025-26 01st August 2025 | NISM Campus, Patalganga

National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) proudly marked a significant milestone with the formal inauguration of LL.M in Investment and Securities Law for the academic session 2025–26. The ceremony was held on 01st August 2025 at the NISM Campus in Patalganga.

The one-year, residential program in collaboration with Maharashtra National Law University is thoughtfully designed to nurture skilled professionals in the field of securities markets.  The curriculum of the program spread across three trimesters, integrates contemporary legal topics aligned with evolving industry needs. The program curriculum is very comprehensive and covers advanced securities law and corporate practice, the insolvency and bankruptcy framework, banking regulations, compliance mechanisms and investment regulations. It equips legal professionals with specialized knowledge that is increasingly being sought after in the financial services industry. It employs a learner-centric pedagogy. Students will also benefit from regular interactions with industry professionals, including experts from SEBI and other key institutions.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Program Director and Professor (NISM), who extended a warm greeting to the incoming cohort. Dr. Rachana Baid, Dean (NISM) in her  welcome address spoke about the institute’s vision and encouraged the students to immerse themselves over one year for in- depth knowledge in securities markets.

This was followed by an address by Shri Sashi Krishnan, Director (NISM). He spoke about the institute’s vision and SEBI’s pivotal role in advancing financial education across India. Emphasizing the importance of integrity and lifelong learning, he encouraged students to approach their academic journey with purpose and professionalism.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Prof. Dilip Ukey, Vice-Chancellor MNLU. He underscored the growing relevance of skill development, ethical conduct, and adaptability in the rapidly evolving financial markets. He spoke about the vast opportunities the sector presents to aspiring professionals and encouraged students to stay curious, stay informed, and contribute meaningfully to the financial ecosystem.

The session also included the Introduction of Faculty Members and Department Heads who were introduced to the students along with their academic and industry expertise offering a glimpse into the robust intellectual and mentoring support available throughout the program.

A total of 52 students from diverse educational and geographical backgrounds were admitted to the NISM-MNLU LL.M 2025–26 batch following a rigorous selection process. Graduates of this program will be well-equipped to take on leadership roles in various positions across various sectors, including specialized securities law practice at top law firms, compliance leadership in financial institutions, advisory roles in investment banking and asset management companies, and legal counsel positions within regulatory bodies and enforcement agencies.
