The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM had conducted a one day programme for SEBI officers on “Commodity Market Operations”. The program was hosted at SEBI Bhavan on 30th January,2019. 32 SEBI officers attended the Programme.

The objective of the programme was to enable the participants to:

  • Overview of commodities markets in India.
  • Trading and Analytics in commodity Markets.
  • Risk Management Mechanism

Topics covered during the Programme were:

  • Evolution & Overview of commodities markets in India and other major foreign jurisdictions.
  • Ware house Receipts, Ware Service Providers, Warehouse Receipt financing, Regulatory framework.
  • Trading and Analytics in commodity Markets, Mechanics of Commodity futures contracts and issues relating to assessment of Commodity Production data.
  • Risk Management Mechanism – Clearing and Settlement, Monitoring & Surveillance of intermediaries in Commodities Markets.

Sessions were Taken by: Mr. Hitesh Sethia (Consultant & Trainer) & Mr. Rahul Ghosh (Ex V.P, NCDEX).
