The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The School for Regulatory Studies and Supervision (SRSS) of National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) conducted an online session on “Risk Management” for the participants of Kotak Securities on November 24, 2021.

Mr.Susanta Kumar Das, Faculty Member, SRSS, welcomed the speakers and the participants.

Mr. Huzefa Mahuvawala, Vice President, NSE Clearing Limited, in the opening remarks provided a brief introduction and overview of Risk Management.

Mr. Sijo Eluvathinngal, Assistant Vice President, NSE Clearing Limited spoke about the different types of margins applicable for cash and derivatives segments, client margin collection, concept of peak margin, reporting obligations of brokers regarding collection of margins, penalty levied by clearing corporations for not collecting margins, etc.

Around 130 participants from Kotak Securities attended the programme and benefitted from the session.  The programme was well received by the participants.
