The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.
Samvad: A Symposium on Securities Market is organised by SEBI and NISM in association with NSE, BSE, NSDL and CDSL. The Symposium is scheduled on January 16, 2026 in physical mode at Jasmine 2, Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai – 400051 and will also be telecasted live.
The objective of the Annual Symposium is to foster discussion on the way forward for the Indian Securities Market, by bringing together experts and stakeholders in the ecosystem.

The Preamble of SEBI describes the basic functions of SEBI as “…..to protect the interests of investors in securities and to promote the development of, and to regulate the securities market and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.”

Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey took charge as Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India in Mumbai on March 01, 2025. Shri Pandey is an IAS Officer of Odisha Cadre belonging to the 1987 batch. Before joining SEBI, he served as Union Finance Secretary, Revenue Secretary and Secretary, Department of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises and Secretary, DOP&T. Shri Pandey has held many significant positions in the Union Government and State Government of Odisha, in addition to serving a stint in the Regional Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). In the Union Government, his previous organisations include Planning Commission (Now Niti Aayog), Cabinet Secretariat and Ministry of Commerce. In State Government of Odisha, he served as administrative head in the Departments of Finance, Health, General Administration, Commercial Taxes and Transport.

Amarjeet Singh is presently the Whole-time Member at Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). With a career spanning nearly 3 decades with SEBI, he has extensive experience in development, regulation and supervision of securities markets.
Amarjeet has been instrumental in introducing SEBI’s reforms in both primary and secondary securities markets, including areas of Initial Public Offerings, Corporate Governance, Stewardship, Financing Reporting, T+1 Settlement and Risk Management. He has led SEBI’s engagements on sustainability reporting in recent years and also the conceptualization and formation of the Social Stock Exchange and its related ecosystem in India.
He is currently a member on the Board of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). He has represented SEBI on numerous Committees set up by the Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India. He was a part-time member on the Board of the National Financial Reporting Authority (2019-2022) and on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (2019-2023), set up by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He has also served on the Board of the National Institute of Securities Market.
He has been involved in various international regulatory initiatives, including those of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). He has acted as Sherpa for SEBI’s representation on the Board of IOSCO. Shri Varshney is a 1990 batch Indian Revenue Service Officer who has worked in various capacities in the Income-tax Department and the Finance Ministry. He was the first Commissioner of the Advance Pricing Agreement and has a distinction of rolling out the APA program successfully in India. He is on the panel of tax experts of UNDP. He has worked for five years with the tax administration of Papua New Guinea, helping them with investigations and capacity building. The departments under him are: Office of Investor Assistance and Education (OIAE), Department of Economic and Policy Analysis (DEPA), Board Cell, RTI & PQ Cell and matters relating to National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
Prior to his promotion as Executive Director, Shri Kadam was Chief General Manager in SEBI and has handled several assignments in SEBI since joining SEBI in 1996. Shri Kadam has served in various Departments including as Registrar at the National Institute of Securities Markets, Regional Director of SEBI’s Northern Regional Office, Corporation Finance, Market Regulation, Surveillance, and Investigations. Shri Kadam has dealt with matters relating to forensic accounting, Indian Depository Receipts (IDRs), e-voting, Business Responsibility Reports, and various legal proceedings such as search and seizure, adjudications, and litigation. Accommodation Options: Accommodation will be available on a single occupancy or shared basis in SH-1/SH-2/SH-3 buildings located within the NISM Campus.

Q1. How the Symposium will be organized?
Ans: The Symposium will be organized in Physical Mode at the below address.
Jasmine 2, Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai – 400051
However, it will also be telecasted live. The link will be shared soon.
Q2. What are the criteria to get the certificate of participation?
Ans: Registered Participants will be eligible to receive a certificate of participation if they attend the Symposium for a minimum of seven hours. The certificate will be sent to the email id provided during the QR code scanning process at the time of exit. For recording attendance, participants are required to scan the QR code again while exiting.
Note: SEBI & NISM – Symposium Organising Committee’s decision will be final in case of any query.
Q3. How to register?
Ans: All interested participants will have to register through registration link given below or the registration tab given on the home page.
Q4. Is there any fee for registration and accommodation?
Ans: While the registration is free of cost, the accommodation facility will be chargeable. Please note that the accommodation will be offered at NISM Campus, Patalganga which is approximately 64 km from the symposium venue – Jio World Convention Center, BKC.
