Dr Debjyoti Dey is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Finance & Accounting) at the National Institute of Securities Management (NISM), a capacity-building initiative of SEBI. He brings over 9 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration across reputed institutions, including the School of Business Management, NMIMS Mumbai, the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), and J.D. Birla Institute, Kolkata.
He holds a PhD in Commerce from the University of Kalyani, with research focusing on the impact of the transition from AS to Ind AS on financial reporting of NBFCs in India. He also earned an M.Phil. in Commerce from the University of Calcutta and is UGC-NET qualified. He holds M.Com. in Accounting & Finance from University of Calcutta, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) from IGNOU, and a Diploma in Banking & Finance (DB&F) from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).
Dr Dey has a diverse teaching portfolio spanning undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional banking programs, covering areas such as financial reporting including Ind AS/ IFRS, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Corporate Finance and Valuation.
He has published research papers and articles in reputed indexed journals (ABDC/UGC Care), with research interests in IFRS/Ind AS, banking performance, and financial markets. He has also presented his research at several national and international conferences, receiving Best Paper Awards on a couple of occasions.
Beyond academics, he has made significant contributions to curriculum development, academic administration, and professional training, particularly during his tenure at IIBF, where he was actively involved in designing industry-oriented banking and finance programs.
Dr Dey is a life member of the Indian Accounting Association and consistently contributes to academic and professional forums through invited lectures, contact classes, and other professional engagements.
