(NISM)

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM in association with Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI) organised a one day Conference on Ethics and Corporate Governance in New Delhi on 26th March 2014.

Shri Prashant Saran, Whole Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) inaugurated the programme.  The keynote address was delivered by Shri Ashish Chauhan, CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange. Representing NISM and ICSI respectively was Shri Sandip Ghose, Director-NISM and Shri R. Sreedharan, Secretary-ICSI spoke on the occasion.

The conference deliberated on three themes – Academic Perspective, Practitioners Perspective and Regulatory Perspective. The session on academic perspective was deliberated by Prof R K Mishra, Director – Institute of Public Enterprises and by Prof. Jai Prakash Sharma, Dean – Delhi University. The session was moderated by Shri Sandip Ghose.

The session on Regulatory Perspective was anchored by Ms Nanda Dave, Chief Gen Manager, RBI and by Shri Amit Pradhan, Chief Gen Manager, SEBI, the session moderated by Shri R Sridharan, President, ICSI.

Shri K Sukumaran delivered the final remarks, drawing the conference to a conclusion. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the corporate sector making it a grand success.
