Programme for the delegates of Higher Defence Management Course of College of Defence Management, Secunderabad

The delegates of Higher Defence Management Course(HDMC) conducted by School of Defence Management, Secunderabad visited NISM, Vashi Campus on Wednesday October 20,2021. The Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) is the core programme of College of Defence Management (CDM). It is a course of 44 weeks’ duration attended by selected officers of the rank of Colonels and their equivalent in the Navy, Air Force, Para Military Forces, civilian officers from the Ministry of Defence and friendly foreign countries. Delegates of HDMC undertake a Management Education Tour (MET) of private/ public sector establishments with an aim to witness the best practices in Project Management, Securities Markets Operations Supply Chain Management, Resource Management, Operation Research, Organisational Behaviour, Strategic Management, etc. In that connection as per the practice followed in the yesteryears, the officers visited NISM this year as well.

During the visit to NISM two technical sessions were arranged.

Dr. Ranjith Krishnan, Head, APU and Industry Liaison Officer welcomed the delegates, briefed about the activities of NISM and introduced the theme of the sessions.

Dr. Nitin Tike, General Manager, NISM during the first technical session elaborated the salient features of investing in Stock Markets as compared to the other various conventional modes of investment. He further discussed about Primary Markets and the Secondary Markets. He also covered various methods of Stock analysis in detail.

Dr. Latha Chari, Associate Professor, NISM during the second technical session gave the participants insights into various areas viz.  trading operations related to equity cash markets, order and trade management, equity cash market products, fund position Management etc. Subsequently Dr. Chari gave a brief hands-on exposure to the Smart lab and explained about the online trading platforms.

The queries raised by the participants were appropriately responded by the speakers.

 Mr. Sunil J. Kadam, Registrar, NISM delivered the concluding remarks. During his address, he briefly explained the role of SEBI as a regulator of Securities Markets. He touched upon Surveillance and Compliance mechanisms and appealed to the participants to be diligent in investing in Stock Markets.

Brig. S K Nair, Head of Faculty, College of Defence Management, while proposing Vote of thanks complimented the efforts taken by NISM in creating awareness on Securities Laws, Markets and promoting Financial Literacy among masses. He further appreciated the faculty members for giving an overview of the entire market operations in a capsule format, and that too in a simple and lucid manner.

The programme was attended by 21 selected officers of the rank of Brigadiers/ Colonels and their equivalent in the Navy, Air Force, Para Military Forces, civilian officers from the Ministry of Defense and included one foreign delegate from Srilanka.
