The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is conducting the a 5-day Programme on Fundamentals of Capital Market for Grade A Officers of IFSCA during January 8 – 12, 2024 at NISM Campus, Patalganga.

The programme is aimed at familiarizing officers by providing them with vital inputs and 360-degree overview on various aspects of the securities markets.

The inaugural event for the Programme was held on January 8, 2024. Dr. CKG Nair, Director, NISM, addressed the participants and shared his insights on Perspectives on Financial Market Regulations in the context of IFSCA. Director-NISM underscored the principles underlying the need for setting up of an International Financial Centre in India. He also highlighted that Gift city would enable ease of providing services like banking, securities, insurance, etc. under a single regulator and reduce the cost of intermediation; and thus, enable ease of doing business in the financial sector.

The valedictory for the Programme was held on January 11, 2024. Mr. Manoj Kumar, Executive Director, SEBI addressed the participants and shared his experience of working in IFSCA with the new joinees. He weighed the pros of being a unified regulator verses the cons of new challenges posed for IFSCA as an entity.

21 participants attended the programme and benefitted from the deliberations.
