2nd Alumni Meet
At NISM Campus, Patalganga on November 16-17, 2019
The 2nd Alumni Meet of NISM held during November 16-17, 2019 in the Patalganga Campus of the institute.
The meet began on November 16, 2019, with the address by Director of NISM. Shri. S. K. Mohanty and Distribution of Best Service Award. The Director addresses the Alumni and was glad to welcome them back to NISM. Director has also encouraged alumni to register with the alumni portal, which will help alumni to network and grow in their career. Going forward NISM will also posts job opportunities in the industry for experienced alumni in the alumni portal.
The Alumni association has announced the best service award and the professional achievement award 2019. The best service award of the Alumni association has been given to those alumni who have helped to place the NISM students in last one year. This year the alumni association have felicitated the following alumni with Best Service Award for helping the students to get placed in the respective organisations.

2. Mr Pranjal Kamra- Founder of Finology
3. Mr Pratik Vijay- Senior Executive, Business Development, MCX
4. Mr Rushabh Katariya- The India International Exchange
5. Mr Subashis Mishra- Formerly with ICEX
Some of the award winners shared their experiences at the meet. The Director announced to provide following facilities to the registered alumni (at the Alumni Website) of NISM:
1. Lifetime access to NISM library and recreation facilities for all registered alumni.
2. 25% discount on participating in the MDP programmes offered by NISM to all registered alumni.
This was followed by cultural evening and DJ Night by students and alumnus.
Next day, on November 17, 2019, the meet began with the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries and Saraswati Vandana by students. The chief guest of the occasion was Dr Uma Shashikant, Chairperson & Co-Founder, CIEL and the guest of honour was Mr Atul Lahoti (a motivational speaker). Prof. Latha Chari (Faculty co-ordinator of Alumni) welcomed all alumni to the 2nd alumni meet and motivated all to stay connected. Prof. Chari has introduced the chief guest Dr Uma Shashikant and requested to address to the Alumni. The Chief guest shared her experiences related to capital market domain and said that in today’s world it is important for everyone to be able to work in teams. Collaborative effort will help achieve success in life.
The Registrar of NISM, Shri Sunil Jayawant Kadam has welcomed and encouraged all alumni. He has also introduced the Guest of Honour Mr Atul Lahoti. Mr Lahoti has given solution to balance the social and professional life through “Mantra’s for Success in Life”. The 2nd Edition of ‘Jigyansa’- Alumni Magazine was launched at the meet with the hands of the dignitaries. The Professional Achievement Award was distributed at the event to those who have achieved awards from their organisations for outstanding performance or qualified professional exams like CFA or FRM or any other internationally recognised certifications. The process of selecting the alumni achievement award started with the nominations from alumni with the proof of their achievements. The association has felicitated following alumni with Professional Achievement Awards this year.

The formal function was over with a vote of thanks by Dr Nitin Tike, the controller of examination and Senior Vice President – Certification, Test and CPE Administration NISM.
To motivate the alumni, there was a panel discussion on “Capital Markets”. The panel discussion was moderated by Prof. Krishnamoorthy, Member of Faculty, NISM. The panel members for this panel were Mr Awadh Pandey of Edelweiss, Mr Pranjal Kamra- Founder of Finology, Mr Anoop Jose-Investment Specialist of IndusInd Bank, Mr Aditya Kondawar- Equity Research Analyst of BP Wealth, and Mr Sharad Dubey of Bloomberg Quint. Each one of the panel members has discussed regarding the current status of the capital markets and the challenges that the industry is facing. The panel members have spoken on broker houses, NBFC, pre-IPO markets, skills required to move in financial markets, necessary scope in fin-tech, and so on. The panel discussion was followed with a Q & A session from the alumni and students.
This was followed by a second-panel discussion on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Algo Trading”. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr Latha Chari, Professor, NISM. Mr Karan Rathore, Senior Consultant- Ernst and Young, Mr Anurag Raj-General Mills and Mr Shriram Nerkar- Area Technology. The panel members have discussed the increase in Artificial intelligence, machine learning and algo trading in securities markets and the skill required for the same from the aspirants of securities markets.
This year the alumni interaction session has started to motivate the current students on how to prepare for the job markets, what the industry is looking for and the aim of togetherness between alumni and students. Renowned alumni have interacted with the current students. They are Mr Mohit Jaria-Manager, Bajaj Finance, Mr Nikhil Gupta- Associate, Abakkus Asset Manager LLP, Mr Abhishek Kumar Rao-OTC Derivatives Portfolio Analyst (Associate Level), SS&C Globeop, Mr Pranjal Kamra-founder Finology, Mr Dillipan Prabhakr- investment advisor. Each one of the alumni has given a presentation on their role and responsibilities in their respective organisations and how the current students can prepare for the respective positions. The students were enthusiastically involved in the interaction by asking so many questions.
The Programme was coordinated by Prof. Latha Chari (Professor-NISM), Dr Pradiptarathi Panda (Lecturer-NISM) and Mr. Ashutosh Kumar (Academic Associate-NISM).
