The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) successfully conducted a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Empowering Educators by Building their Expertise in Securities Markets” from 18–22 May 2026 at its Patalganga Campus, attracting participation from over 100 faculty members from Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) across India. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rachana Baid, Dean – Academics- NISM, followed by a keynote address by Shri Sashi Krishnan, Director- NISM, who highlighted India’s evolving financial ecosystem and the growing importance of capital markets.

Day 1: Mr. Arup Mukherjee introduced participants to securities markets and investment instruments, while Dr. Meraj Inamdar conducted a hands-on trading simulation lab, providing practical exposure to market operations and trading strategies.

Day 2: Dr. Rachana Baid covered investor behaviour and financial planning, Mr. Amit Trivedi discussed mutual funds and their regulatory framework, and Dr. Jinesh Panchali delivered sessions on risk-return concepts and economic, industry, and company analysis.

Day 3: Dr. Dhiraj Jain provided comprehensive insights into equity derivatives, including futures and options, while Dr. Jatin Trivedi introduced participants to Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).

Day 4: Participants undertook an educational visit to the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Day 5: Dr. Anurag Banerjee conducted sessions on financial statement analysis and valuation principles, followed by Dr. Vivek Dhandapani’s sessions on data science, machine learning, and prompt engineering. The programme concluded with the valedictory Session and certificate distribution ceremony jointly conducted by Mr. Sanjeev Bajaj, General Manager, PMD-NI, NISM and Dr. Vivek Dhandapani, Associate Professor of Practice-NISM.

The programme successfully blended theoretical knowledge with practical learning, enhancing participant’s understanding of securities markets, investment products, financial analysis and emerging technologies in finance, thereby strengthening their capacity to impart contemporary financial education.
