The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

After successfully organizing the Masterclass on Behavioural Finance in the month of November 2015 and keeping in mind the growing importance of Behavioural Finance, NISM has organised a Masterclass on Behavioural Finance during May 04-05, 2016 at The Regenza by Tunga, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

The Master Trainer of the programme was Dr. Arman Eshraghi, a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Accounting and Director of MSc Finance and Investment at the University of Edinburgh and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is BEng and MBA from Sharif University and PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh.

The key objective of the masterclass was to explore the nuances of decision making in the presence of risk and uncertainty with useful insights into the behavioural of both individual investors and finance professionals. Significant focus was placed on practical applications for executives in charge of managing assets and investment client portfolios.

The key focus of the programme was recent advances in the area of behavioural finance. Neuro-Finance and Emotional Finance were also discussed in detail. The participants also participated in three psychometric tests whose results were analyzed in detail.

The participants for the programme were from reputed institutions like SEBI,RBI, NSE, MS Ventures Financial Planners, SWS Financial Solution Pvt. Ltd, academicians and NISM.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM. He had discussed in detail about the importance and necessity of training and knowledge upgradation for any one working in the financial markets.

Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Member of Faculty (On Deputation from Market Regulator, SEBI), was the in-charge of the programme. He apprised the participant about various programmes conducted by School for Regulatory Studies and Supervision (SRSS) and future programmes of SRSS. He also emphasised on NISM’s endeavour to provide quality and international standard programmes at reasonable cost.

The valedictory address was delivered by Mr. Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM. The participants were given Certificate of Participation at the

end of the programme.

NISM intends to conduct another Masterclass on ‘Advances in Behavioural Finance’ in the month of November 2016.
