As part of the orientation and induction programme for the Post Graduate Program in Investment and Securities Markets (PGPISM) 2026–27 batch, the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) hosted a special lecture by Dr. M. S. Sahoo on June 3, 2026, at the NISM Patalganga Campus.
In his engaging address, Dr. Sahoo explored the concepts of governance, economic freedom, and India’s economic transformation from the License Raj era to liberalization. He highlighted the importance of regulatory frameworks such as the SEBI Act, 1992, the Competition Act, 2002, and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, in promoting market efficiency, investor protection, and economic growth.
The session also emphasized key financial concepts, including the time value of money, while providing students with valuable insights into the interconnectedness of economics, regulation, and capital markets. Through practical examples and thought-provoking discussions, Dr. Sahoo inspired students to appreciate the role of institutions and markets in nation-building and wealth creation.
The lecture was attended by Dr. Rachana Baid, Dean (Academics), Dr. Dhiraj Jain, faculty members and the newly admitted PGPISM students. The session marked an enriching beginning to the academic journey of the PGPISM 2026–27 cohort and reinforced NISM’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to learn from distinguished leaders in finance, regulation, and public policy.
