The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Eyeing closer regional economic integration that would contribute to strengthening India’s ties with Southeast Asia as part of its ‘Act East Policy‘ NISM conducted a 21-days Workshop for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) Experts in Capital Markets, under the advice, financial support and coordination of the ASEAN desk of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India

The programme was held from August 31 to September 18, 2015 at the Ramada Inn (Mahape-Navi Mumbai). A total of 16 officials (4 officers from respective countries Securities Exchange Commission, Ministry of Finance and Central banks) from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam undergone the training programme designed by NISM.

The programme was inaugurated by the Director of NISM, Mr Sandip Ghose and a welcome address by Mr G P Garg, Registrar.

The faculty for the programme was a good mix of academicians, practitioners, representatives of stock exchanges, commodity exchanges, intermediaries, and regulatory staff. All facets of capital markets were covered: brokers, registrars and transfer agents, depositories, stock exchanges, mutual funds, and regulatory bodies.

The Valedictory Session was addressed by Mr Prashant Saran, Whole-Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India. This was followed by the distribution of certificates to the participants.
