The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and Excellence Enablers jointly organised a programme for Directors of Listed Companies at MCA Club Mumbai on August 08, 2024, which was attended by directors and independent directors of listed companies and Market Infrastructure Institutions.

Shri Sashi Krishnan Director, NISM, welcomed the dignitaries, participants and delivered the welcome address. During his speech, Mr. Krishnan elaborated on the role and responsibilities of Independent Directors.

Shri M. Damodaran, IAS, Founder of Excellence Enablers and Former Chairman of SEBI, UTI, and IDBI, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, Shri Damodaran highlighted the importance of understanding boardroom dynamics, focusing on the behavioural and cultural dimensions of Indian boards. He also stressed the critical need for corporate governance and outlined the expectations from board committees

Shri Amarjeet Singh, Whole Time Member of SEBI, in his speech talked about the expectations of regulators from Boards of Directors and Board Committees.

The programme ended with Vote of Thanks by Shri Sunil J Kadam, Registrar, NISM
