WORKSHOP ON RISK MANAGEMENT FOR MUTUAL FUNDS - National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM)

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The School for Regulatory Studies and Supervision (SRSS) of NISM organised a Two Day workshop on Risk Management for Mutual Funds at its BKC premises in Mumbai on 10th and 11th December 2021.

Dr.V R Narasimhan, Dean, NISM welcomed the participants and gave the introductory remarks. During his address he briefly touched upon some of the recent changes in the light of circulars of SEBI on Mutual funds.

Dr. Ruchi Chojer, Chief General Manager, SEBI delivered the inaugural address. During her address she spoke on the role played by SEBI in regulating the Mutual Fund industry. She also discussed on the consultative approach adopted by SEBI while preparing the Risk Management framework.

During the first Technical session, Mr.Hruda Ranjan Sahoo, Deputy General Manager, SEBI spoke on Risk Management Framework defined in the SEBI circular.

Mr.Krishnan Viswanathan, Chief Executive Officer, Kris Consulting was the Principal speaker for the workshop who, during the course of workshop addressed on diversified aspects viz. Demystification of enterprise risk, Governance, Creation of Risk Management Policy, Measurement  and Management of risks etc. He outlined the methodical approach to implement the Risk Management frame work through interactive sessions and hands on training.

During the workshop there were many group exercises which gave the participants a practical approach to the subject.

The workshop was well received by the participants. All the sessions were highly interactive, where the queries raised by the participants were appropriately responded by the eminent speakers.
