(NISM)

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM had conducted a one day programme for SEBI officers on “Macroeconomics”. The program was hosted at NISM Bhavan, Vashi on 29 January,2019.18 SEBI officers attended the Programme. The Programme was inaugurated by Dr. M. Thenmozhi (Director, NISM). She addressed the participants and informed them about the full time, part time and upcoming courses at NISM and urge them to use NISM platform to update themselves on various aspects of financial markets.

The objective of the programme was to enable the participants to:

  • Basics of Macroeconomics.
  • Macroeconomics indicators & linkages.
  • Recent Economic development and their impact.

Topics covered during the Programme were:

  • Basics of Macro Economics –Macroeconomic indicators and linkages, money markets, Financial Markets and Foreign Exchange Markets, inflation, AD& AS. Market Operations.
  • Macroeconomics -Monetary & Fiscal Policy.
  • Recent Economic development and their impact – Financially Crises and regulatory response.
  • Recent Economic development and their impact –Nationally and globally like GDP and GVA debate in India, Trade wars, Impact of Brexit , ILFS and NBFC crises in India, Central Bank independence, Impact of reversal of QE etc. Risk Management & debriefing.
