The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) proudly marked a significant milestone with the formal inauguration of the 7th batch of its Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Securities Markets) – PGDM (SM) for the academic session 2025–27. The ceremony was held on 15th July 2025 at the NISM Campus in Patalganga.

The two-year, full-time AICTE-approved residential program is thoughtfully designed to nurture skilled professionals in the field of securities markets. The curriculum of the program spread across six trimesters, integrates contemporary topics aligned with evolving industry needs. It employs a learner-centric pedagogy including case studies, simulation-based trading, summer internships, industry-recognized certifications, and access to advanced financial tools such as Bloomberg terminals. Students will also benefit from regular interactions with industry professionals, including experts from SEBI and other key institutions.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Rachana Baid, Dean (Academics), who extended a warm greeting to the incoming cohort. She shared valuable insights into the academic framework of the program, its rigorous curriculum, and its significance in the evolving financial landscape.

This was followed by an address by Shri Sunil J. Kadam, Executive Director (SEBI) and Registrar, NISM. He spoke about the institute’s vision and SEBI’s pivotal role in advancing financial education across India. Emphasizing the importance of integrity and lifelong learning, he encouraged students to approach their academic journey with purpose and professionalism.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Shri Sashi Krishnan, Director, NISM. He underscored the growing relevance of skill development, ethical conduct, and adaptability in the rapidly evolving financial markets. He spoke about the vast opportunities the sector presents to aspiring professionals and encouraged students to stay curious, stay informed, and contribute meaningfully to the financial ecosystem.

The session also included the Introduction of Faculty Members and Department Heads who were introduced to the students along with their academic and industry expertise offering a glimpse into the robust intellectual and mentoring support available throughout the program.

A total of 111 students from diverse educational and geographical backgrounds were admitted to the PGDM (SM) 2025–27 batch following a rigorous selection process. Graduates of this program will be well-equipped to take on leadership roles in areas such as equity research, portfolio management, compliance, risk analysis, investment banking etc. The program opens up diverse career pathways in stock exchanges, mutual funds, depositories, regulatory bodies, investment advisory firms and many other segments of the financial services industry.
